And why this is important to your career and business

This morning my partner gave me a book: The Power of Fun by Catherine Price.
The title made me pause.
Fun.
It’s a word that feels almost… unserious.
Sometimes I treat it like a reward. Something I allow myself after the real work is done. After the deadlines. After the responsibilities. After the important things.
But the argument in the book is the opposite.
Fun isn’t optional.
It’s essential.
Not because life should always be easy or entertaining — but because joy is one of the things that actually gives us energy for the serious parts of life.
Without it, everything becomes effort.
I felt that truth hit me personally.
There are periods in life where I become very focused, responsible and productive. It's great, but sometimes my joy quietly disappears. And then something else slowly disappears too: my energy, creativity, enthusiasm and perspective.
And as a result, I get tired. Then I start to seek distraction (Netflix, scrolling, junk food & endless YouTube shorts, etc.) rather than true rest or nourishment.
But I’ve noticed something interesting.
When my joy returns — even in small moments — so does my vitality and inspiration.
Work feels lighter.
Ideas flow more easily.
People connect more naturally.
Joy is not the reward for a good life.
It is part of what makes a good life possible.
That’s why our next webinar/web discussion is called Finding Your Joy.
Not as a fluffy idea.
But as a practical conversation about how we can reconnect with the things that make us feel most alive.
If that topic resonates with you, I’d love to have you join us.
Warmly, - RICK §;-)
