Not chasing, and Finding Joy

What really charges my batteries?

This weekend… I went into the mountains with four friends.

High up into the Jotunheimen National Park in Norway.

We cross-country skied…

ate great meals we made together…

baked in the sauna heated by burning logs…

and we rolled in the snow like kids,

throwing snowballs and laughing for no reason.

And I caught myself thinking…

This is it.

This is something deep that I think we all search for.

Not in the big life moments.

Not in the achievements.

Not in the next milestone in business.

But here.

Playfulness.

Connection.

Flow.

The same three things i wrote about in my last email…

from that book a friend gave me.

And perhaps something shifted for me this weekend.

I realized…

Joy isn’t something I find.

It’s something I allow.

When I slow down enough…

to be with people.

to be in nature.

to stop trying to impress or be productive for a moment…

Joy shows up on its own.

And the beautiful part?

It doesn’t just feel good.

It recharges my batteries.

My energy.

My thinking.

My relationships.

Even my work.

Today, on a bright and sunny Monday morning I feel energised and inspired to continue my work - my quest - to really help my clients.

I came back feeling clearer…

lighter…

more alive.

Not because I had “worked on myself”…

but perhaps because I wasn't trying.

If you feel like things have been a bit heavy lately…

maybe the answer isn’t to push harder.

Maybe it’s to go find your version of this.

p.s. this way of writing… of sharing what’s real, not perfect… in my life is something i’ve been deeply inspired by lately. Thank you for reading this far. Contact me if you have comments or things to share.   :-)   rs@rsalmon.com
